The Gambia Immigration Department (GID), through its Migration Management Unit (MMU), Border Patrol Units and partner security institutions, continues to record significant successes in disrupting irregular migration and smuggling networks across the country.
Between October and November 2025, multiple coordinated operations were conducted in ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐, ๐ป๐๐๐๐, ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐, ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐, ๐ฒ๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐ฑ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐. These efforts resulted in the interception of more than 326 migrants, arrests of key organisers, and recovery of critical evidence, including boats, boat engines, fuel drums, and communication devices.
Some major highlights include:
๐ 82 migrants intercepted in Batokunku on 2nd November, with two suspected organisers arrested and a boat recovered.
๐ Fuel smuggling bust in the TanjiโGunjurโKartong belt, seizing large quantities of fuel and two suspects arrested.
๐ 47 Guinean nationals were intercepted during routine checks after suspicious movement patterns were detected.
๐ Multiple interceptions in Barra involving organised groups recruited for irregular travel to Europe.
Beyond individual operations, GID has processed 2,041 ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐๐ฃ๐ฉ๐จ ๐๐ง๐ค๐ข ๐ ๐๐ฃ๐ช๐๐ง๐ฎ ๐ฉ๐ค ๐๐ค๐ซ๐๐ข๐๐๐ง 2025, ๐๐ค๐ข๐ฅ๐ง๐๐จ๐๐ฃ๐: 1,693 ๐ข๐๐ก๐๐จ, 348 ๐๐๐ข๐๐ก๐๐จ, 77 ๐ข๐๐ฃ๐ค๐ง๐จ ๐๐ฃ๐ 21 ๐ฅ๐ง๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ฃ๐ฉ ๐ฌ๐ค๐ข๐๐ฃ.
Nationalities recorded during this period include: 535 ๐๐๐ข๐๐๐๐ฃ๐จ, 921 ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐ก๐๐จ๐, 485 ๐๐ช๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ฃ๐จ, ๐๐ฃ๐ 100 ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ซ๐๐๐ช๐๐ก๐จ from other nationalities.
These achievements reinforce our commitment to safeguarding national security, protecting vulnerable migrants, and combating criminal networks exploiting youths for dangerous journeys.
