The Ahmadiyya Muslim Dental Surgery this year marks 53 years since its establishment. The dental facility was first opened in 1972 in Banjul at Picton Street. After ten years of quality and affordable services, the clinic transferred its offices in Tallinding alongside the medical wing ( Ahmadiyya Muslim Hospital) for a more and conducive wilder space.
Dr Saad Amin Malik the current Dentist incharge paid tribute to the founding fathers for their tremendous efforts in establishing the dental clinic at that crucial time few years after the country gained independence from Britain. It was pivotal at the time and more than ever before as countless number of patients had gone through as their dental worries were settled with care and compassion . According to him, the services rendered at the clinic were affordable, reliable and commendable. We provided range of services including extraction, filling, dentures, scaling and polishing root canal, braces crown and x ray among a variety of over two dozen services.
The clinic, Dr Malik went on has fulfilled its obligations since its inception and boast of having highly qualified personal to attend to any issues affecting the tooth. All of our staff are Gambians with the exception of the dentist incharge. Dr Amin Malik revealed that the pioneer doctor who was sent to open the clinic was Dr Haq, a Pakistani national, he was succeeded by Dr M. A Sooltangoes, then followed Dr Nusrat Pasha, Dr Abdourahmane Koya was an Indian, Dr Valishah Ahmad, Dr Nasir Khan and to me Dr Saad Amin Malik. All of these men were of outstanding qualities and they performed their duties with merit. They were doctors recognized globally.
Dr Malik finally urged the general public to visit and patronize the clinic anytime they encountered tooth problems. We are qualified and recognized, we know the job to our fingertips, so please come and have your issues solved, he stated.
As part of the milestone, Dr Saad Amin Malik announced that, they have made a significant reduction to charges of all of our services effective this month.
In conclusion, the erudite Doctor also paid tribute to Amir Baba F Trawally who chairs the board of governors of Nusrat Jehan Scheme, a scheme of which the dental clinic is part of. He praised Amir for his outstanding leadership roles in ensuring that the clinic is on a right footing. Equally he thanked all the dedicated staff both present and past for their resilience and patience and commended them for their tremendous and untiring efforts in ensuring the continuity of the clinic to serve the interest of the Gambian population and all those who lives in.
Dawda Nyagado one of the longest serving staff and served under four doctors hailed the progress of the clinic something he attributed was down to hardwork, honesty and integrity. He said the dental facility is equipped with modern tools necessary for the services they offer and calls on the population to visit the clinic anytime they encountered problems with their tooth.
At the end of the program, new uniforms were distributed to all the members of staff accompanied with certificate of appreciation for the excellent work they have been doing and continues to deliver. Amir Baba F Trawally congratulated all of them for their services to the clinic. He advised them about the importance of wearing uniforms when coming to work, uniform according to him, is a form of identification and it symbolizes unity. A refreshments was later served to all the participants at the gathering.
