Gambian sprinter Jalika Bajinka, who was selected to represent Team Gambia at the ongoing Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia , will not travel with the team due to a pending passport at the Netherlands Embassy in Dakar, where she had earlier applied for a visa several months ago.
In another development, the home-based athletes have each received an allowance of D10,000.00 before departing for Kaolack, where they had a training camp in preparation for the Games. Additionally, each athlete has received D75,000.00 for their participation.
Meanwhile, Serreh Sanneh, a promising long jumper, will replace Jalika Bajinka in the women’s 4x100m relay team, ensuring that Team Gambia maintains its full lineup for the sprint relay event.
