The Gambia Police Force hereby announces the promotion of more than 600 officers across various units and regions of the country as part of the 2025 Promotion Exercise.
Acting under the authority provided by the Police Act, Cap 18:01, which empowers the Inspector General of Police to appoint, promote, and discipline officers based on merit and institutional requirements, this year’s promotion exercise forms a key component of the GPF’s efforts to strengthen operational capacity, reinforce leadership, and enhance policing standards nationwide.
The promotions, spanning ranks from Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the senior officer cadre to Corporal in the junior ranks, reflect the GPF’s commitment to recognising excellence at all levels of the Force. The majority of the officers promoted fall within the junior ranks, acknowledging their dedication, discipline, and service to the nation.
Inspector General of Police, Seedy Mukhtar Touray, congratulates all newly promoted officers and reminds them that promotion is not only a recognition of past performance but also a call to greater responsibility. He urges them to uphold the highest standards of conduct and continue serving with professionalism, integrity, and respect for the rule of law.
This promotion exercise aligns with the GPF’s broader strategic vision to professionalize the Force, strengthen community trust, and enhance service delivery across all regions of The Gambia.
The GPF extends appreciation to all officers for their continued dedication and encourages those not promoted in this cycle to remain committed. The institution values every officer’s contribution and remains dedicated to fairness, discipline, and sustained capacity development.
The Gambia Police Force reaffirms its commitment to building a disciplined, people-centered, and operationally ready institution dedicated to safeguarding peace, protecting lives, and promoting national security.
Congratulations to all promoted officers!!!
