The Police in LRR, working jointly with all regional security partners, have launched an intensified operation code-named Operation Clear LRR (Soma) of Criminality in response to a recent surge in break-ins across the area.
The operation, which commenced on Tuesday, December 8, 2025, is led by the Regional Commissioner, CP Mustapha Ndong, and forms part of ongoing efforts to restore safety and disrupt criminal activities in and around Soma.
During the first phase, the joint security team arrested 24 suspects and impounded eight motorcycles, most of which were undocumented or unregistered. The deployments were highly intelligence-led, focusing on identified hotspots, movement patterns, and individuals linked to emerging criminal networks.
Operation Clear LRR represents a decisive and coordinated action to stabilise community safety, dismantle criminal elements, and protect the lives and properties of residents. The Police in LRR affirm that the operation will be sustained and intensified in the days ahead to prevent further criminal incidents and maintain security within the region.
