The High Court has denied bail to former Jungler operative Sanna Manjang and ordered the state to file a formal indictment on or before January 12th 2026. His arraignment has been scheduled for Thursday 15th January 2026.
Ex-jungler Sanna Manjang set to stand trial over murder charges
He is accused of being a key member of the junglers, which was a killer squad for former President Yahya Jammeh. Under former President Yahya Jammehβs regime, at least 240 people were allegedly killed while some others remained missing.
Manjang was arraigned before the Kanifing Magistrateβs Court on three counts of murder, including the alleged killing of veteran Gambian journalist Deyda Hydara, the co-founder of The Point Newspaper.
The State Law Office might maintain the charges or increase them. Sanna is recommended for prosecution by the truth commission for murder and torture among many other rights violations.
