The Police Intervention Unit (PIU) Command of The Gambia Police Force on Thursday decorated 89 newly promoted officers at a ceremony held at the PIU Headquarters in Kanifing.
The officers were promoted across ranks ranging from Sergeant to Assistant Superintendent of Police. The event was attended by senior officers of the Gambia Police Force, representatives of sister security services, community members, and families of the promoted officers.
In his opening remarks, Chief Superintendent of Police Amadou Drammeh congratulated the officers and urged them to remain disciplined, hardworking and professional in the discharge of their duties.
Delivering the keynote address, the Commissioner of Police for PIU, Adeline Basangeh, described the promotions as well deserved and encouraged the officers to embrace their new responsibilities with honesty, discipline, empathy and respect for the rule of law. He called on them to serve as role models and uphold high professional standards.
Representing the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Operations, Deputy Commissioner of Police Thomas R. J. Gomez reminded the officers that promotion comes with increased responsibility and reflects the confidence placed in them to protect the public with professionalism and competence.
Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, Assistant Superintendent of Police Alassan E. Bah thanked the police leadership for the recognition and assured the command of their continued commitment to duty and integrity.
The ceremony underscored the Gambia Police Force’s commitment to recognising merit and strengthening professionalism within the service.
