A Gambian man has been arrested at Banjul International Airport after authorities discovered 37 blocks of suspected cocaine concealed in his luggage.
Alieu Jeng, 31, a resident of Nema Kunku and employee of NIRO Company, was taken into custody.
Officers of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) intercepted Jeng as he attempted to offload cargo at the airportโs airside.
Acting on reasonable suspicion, operatives searched his tractor and uncovered two black suitcases and a school bag containing the suspected narcotics.
Jeng is currently being held as investigations continue to determine the source of the drugs, potential accomplices, and the intended destination.
