At the opening of the 2026 Legal Year, President Barrow emphasised the importance of a strong, independent Judiciary for peace, stability, and development. He praised Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow’s reforms and approved the renewal of the vehicle fleet for the judiciary to enhance justice delivery.
President Barrow further called on three arms of Government to โrenew the shared commitment to justice and honest service to the people, strengthen the rule of law, protect the rights of all, and build a justice system that inspires confidence, promotes equity, and upholds the highest ideals of our Republic.โ
Chief Justice Jallow highlighted progress in digitalization, decentralisation, and human rights, with The Gambia hosting the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
