Caritas The Gambia has once again demonstrated its unwavering dedication to education by generously donating 700 bicycles to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE).
This exceptional initiative, part of Caritas’ ongoing support since 2018, aims to alleviate transportation difficulties for students, particularly those in rural areas, and improve their access to education.
During the presentation, Madam Keita, a representative of Caritas, emphasized that their contribution goes beyond bicycles. In addition to these much-needed transportation aids, the organization has also provided eyeglasses, improved water and sanitation facilities in rural schools, and assisted vulnerable students with learning materials.
In response, Dr. Habibatou Drammeh, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, expressed sincere gratitude for the ongoing partnership, recognizing that the bicycles will greatly benefit students who struggle with long journeys to school.
Hajara Jassey, one of the recipients of a bicycle, shared her appreciation, expressing how this gift will greatly improve her daily commute to school, making it easier and safer.
The 700 bicycles will be allocated to various schools throughout the country, offering students a smoother and more enjoyable ride towards a brighter future, highlighting Caritas The Gambia’s unwavering commitment to education.
