Chairman Yankuba Darboe slammed Minister Ebrima Sillah after Sillah recently said on GTRS TV that he was not aware of the ongoing construction of the Kora Monument at Brikama Jambarr Sanneh junction by the council.
”I want to set the records that Dishonourable Minister Ebrima Sillah is blatantly lying in order to justify attempts by the central government to demolish, what is Brikama Area Council beautification project for the betterment of Brikama and WCR. It is nothing more than a political witch-hunt,” “adding Last year, in early February 2025, I led a team of BAC planning department officials and councillors to the NRA and had a meeting with their then Director Sanyang and their current Director and many of their senior staffs at the NRA HQ. We discussed about our development plans for public spaces along the road from Brikama Jah oil to the Kora Monument site. And wanted to know whether they had any road expansion plans for those areas.”
Sillah stressed that if the beautification work at the site affects the construction of the dual carriageway the government is about to construct, it will be demolished.
The Chairman of the council called Sillah’s remarks a witch-hunt.
Physical Planning recently issued an order for the council to immediately halt their work on the site and seek approval.
