The Amdalai Immigration Border Crossing Post (BCP), on Thursday, 18th March 2026, received and processed seventy-eight (78) Gambian migrant returnees from Mauritania. The exercise was facilitated through the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in collaboration with the Embassy of The Gambia in Nouakchott.
Upon arrival, the returnees were received by immigration officials, Red Cross volunteers, and public health personnel, who provided essential reception support and conducted health assessments.
The group comprised sixty-seven (67) males, eleven (11) females, and one (1) minor. All individuals were duly screened and confirmed to be in stable condition before being escorted to Banjul for family reunification.
The Gambia Immigration Department extends its sincere appreciation to the International Organization for Migration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and all relevant stakeholders for their continued support in facilitating the assisted voluntary return and reintegration of vulnerable migrants, while contributing to the protection of lives and human safety.
