Comium has handed over an impressive amount of D3 million, raised through its “1 Dalasi” Ramadan Campaign, to multiple organizations in The Gambia. These include the Supreme Islamic Council, SOS Children’s Villages, and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, in order to provide aid to vulnerable families across the country.
During the handover ceremony, representatives from the partner institutions conveyed their appreciation for the campaign, stating that it was both timely and impactful. They highlighted the positive impact it will have on widows, single mothers and vulnerable children in need of support.
A spokesperson from SOS Children’s Villages expressed that this support will strengthen families and contribute to the well-being and development of children. They also emphasized that collaborations like this are crucial in breaking the cycle of family separation and vulnerability.
Similarly, the Supreme Islamic Council extended their gratitude for the initiative, highlighting the significant impact it has already had on hundreds of vulnerable households, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare stressed the importance of public-private partnerships, acknowledging the limitations of solely relying on the government to solve all social challenges. They commended Comium’s campaign for its contribution towards assisting families and vulnerable communities throughout the country.
Comium officials stated that the campaign was a part of their corporate social responsibility and community support initiatives. They hoped that more institutions would join similar efforts to further aid national development and provide support to vulnerable communities.
