The Government of The Gambia today marks a significant milestone in its efforts to boost rural connectivity and agricultural growth with the laying of the foundation stone for the 204.7KM GIRAV Feeder Roads Project.
In a statement, the President emphasised the initiative’s focus on connecting every agricultural productive community to the primary road network, unlocking economic potential, reducing inequality, and fostering national cohesion.
The feeder roads project will link key agricultural production areas to major roads, markets, and social services, addressing a critical constraint to agricultural growth and rural development. By facilitating the movement of agricultural produce, the project will reduce post-harvest losses, improve supply chain efficiency, and enhance market access for farmers.
Various speakers lauded President Barrow’s developments across the North Bank Region, highlighting their impact on the local communities.
The project is funded by the World Bank through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Security.
