The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad has issued an urgent advisory to Gambian nationals living in the Middle East, urging them to prioritise their safety and consider voluntary departure where necessary amid a deteriorating security situation.
In a press release dated 1 April 2026, the ministry called on citizens in affected areas to remain vigilant, strictly follow guidance from local authorities, and avoid situations that could put them at risk.
It warned that those in vulnerable or uncertain conditions should make timely arrangements to relocate to safer environments to avoid being caught up in any sudden escalation.
The government said it is closely monitoring developments in the region and reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and welfare of Gambians abroad.
The ministry also reiterated its longstanding directive for all Gambians living overseas to register with the nearest Gambian embassy, high commission, or consulate in their country of residence.
