The new members of the Gambia delegation to the ECOWAS Parliament were sworn in at the Inaugural Session of the Sixth Legislature on Thursday, April 4, 2024, in Abuja, Nigeria.
This inauguration formally marks the commencement of business for the Sixth Legislature, following the end of the Fifth Legislature on March 8, 2024.
Hon. Billay G Tunkara (Kantora), head of the delegation, Hon. Alhagie S Darbo (Brikama North), Hon. Amadou Camara (Nianija), Hon. Sheriff Sarr (Jeshwang), and Hon. Maimuna Ceesay (Nominated) pledged their commitment before the Chairman of The Authority to serve the interest of the West African sub-region alongside other newly elected representatives from ECOWAS member states.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria, Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, convened the inaugural session of the ECOWAS Parliament – the House of Representatives of the Community’s people – at its headquarters in Abuja.
