The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Female Parliamentarians Association (ECOFEPA) has announced its newly elected Executive Committee. Honorable Maimuna Ceesay of The Gambia was chosen as Secretary General.
ECOFEPA serves as a voice for female parliamentarians within the ECOWAS Parliament. The association works to advocate for increased representation of women in both decision-making roles and political spheres across the region.
Hon. Ceesay will work with a strong leadership team including President Veronica Sesay of Sierra Leone, 1st Vice President Senator Chantal Fanny Moussokour of Ivory Coast, 2nd Vice President Senator Ireti Kingibe of Nigeria, and 3rd Vice President Isa Filomena Pereira Soares Da Costa of Cape Verde. Supporting this team in their endeavors will be Deputy Secretary General Blessing Onuh of Nigeria and Treasurer Konou Agbandao of Togo.
Following her election, Honorable Ceesay expressed her gratitude, stating that her appointment signifies a victory for The Gambia. She pledged her commitment to fulfilling the association’s goals.
