The Secretary-General and Party Leader of the National People’s Party expresses his gratitude and appreciation to Gambians for the boisterous welcome accorded to him as he barnstormed the Greater Banjul Area on Saturday to see the state of work of the roads being built by his government. Thousands of Gambians and party supporters lined up the streets of KM-Serrekunda-Bundung, Bakoteh, Sukuta, Jabang, Brusubi, Burfut, and Wulinkama, among others to cheer and congratulate His Excellency the President. President Adama Barrow used the opportunity to bond with Gambians and exchange jovial chitchat with them. The energy provided further evidence that Gambians fully appreciate the NPP’s agenda of progress and prosperity.
His Excellency President Adama Barrow wishes to renew his unyielding commitment to fulfilling the social contract as well as his campaign offering: to fashion a Gambia that is advanced and developed in all sectors. Towering and high on his agenda and mind is economic growth and development. The President repeated the adage that “work is the only solution and surest way to success”. His government is on course to deliver its promise to Gambians during the 2021 Presidential Election campaign. A key flagpole of his campaign offering is to provide electricity to each and every settlement in The Gambia by 2025. At this hour, massive work on electricity infrastructure is being carried out in every region of the country. The NPP party leader is pleased with briefings and reports he’s getting directly from communities especially rural residents regarding the progress of the rural electrification project as electric poles and wires tower above towns and villages and thatch roofs. The citizens describe all of these life-changing developments as a dream come through. Communities that had never seen macadamized roads and electricity are now beaming with excitement and enthusiasm. His Excellency the President’s vision of transformation of The Gambia into a city-state is evergreen. Very soon, Gambians will begin to feel the full effect of Barrowvancement. Barrowvancement is the process of turning The Gambia into a city-state with an economy that delivers better standards of living for all Gambians.
The president takes note of the congestion in the highly populated towns of Serrekunda, Brikama, and other settlements. Aware of this, the President is now working on solutions such as a modernized and improved road infrastructure in these areas. At this point, the NPP government is studying a massive road Infrastructure project that will completely address these challenges within KM and West Coast region ease congestion, and increase economic activity in the areas.
The current road infrastructure projects ongoing in these areas will be further boosted with the start of another hundreds of kilometers of roads both in the urban Centres and rural communities soon.
President Barrow calls on all Gambians to join him in his transformation agenda for this generation and generations yet unborn.
The NPP, President Barrow stressed is founded on a democratic pedestal and will embolden democracy, good governance, rule of law, and people’s rights, liberties, and freedoms as it is his belief that there cannot be meaningful development, durable and sustainable growth without peace and stability and this cannot happen without strong democratic dispensation.
