The Executive Director of ‘ Beakanyang ‘ Mr Nfamara Jawno Jawneh, has said that his organization quipped a multitude of young people with knowledge of human rights.
He made the statement in a recent session at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Centre with school children.
“With support of our partners will continue to promote human rights in the country. Over the years, through our human rights clubs, we provided human rights education to thousands of Gambian children and youth. We will continue to reach out to every corner of the country, thus bringing human rights education to the doorstep of all Gambians,” says our Executive Director, as he delivers the closing remarks of the just concluded Human Rights Day commemoration.
He expressed appreciation for partnering with the UN for the National Commemoration of World Human Rights Day at the Sir Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre.
” We thank OHCHR, UNICEF, and the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator for their continued support and partnership.”
Ms Kaddijatou Jobe of Nusrat Senior Secondary School presented the position paper on Human Rights Violations affecting children and youth in The Gambia.
In a separate but related engagement,
Beakanyang held a successful mentorship session with their young women’s rights advocates in Basse.
The activity is part of their UNFPA The Gambia GPI 2.0 project through ActionAid The Gambia.
Mentees were drawn from Nasir, Nyakoi, and Koba Kunda Upper and Senior Secondary Schools.
