West Africa is redefining migration. On February 20, 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria, ECOWAS and the EU launched FMM II, a groundbreaking initiative to strengthen free movement, enhance migration governance, and drive economic growth.
The Vice-president of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Damtien L. Tchintchibidja, The EU Head of Cooperation, Mr. Massimo De Luca, and the ECOWAS Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture, Mrs. Massandje Tourรฉ-Litse, all reaffirmed their commitment to making migration a force for stability and opportunity.
With EU funding and support from IOM, ILO, and ICMPD, FMM II will empower millions across the region. Migration, when well-managed, is not a challengeโitโs the future.
