
Ms Sainabou Houma, Director of Transport Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure said road safety should be a shared responsibility.
The Director of Transport made this statement while representing the Minister of Transport Hon Ebrima Sillah at the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, held in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco, from February 18th to 20th, 2025.
The global event brings together government Ministers, transport experts, international organizations and civil society groups to strategize and adopt impactful policies aimed at enhancing road safety worldwide.
“Theme of this year’s conference, “Commit to Life,” underscores the urgent need for coordinated and sustained action to reduce road traffic fatalities and build safer roads for all. It calls upon governments, transport unions, drivers, pedestrians, law enforcement agencies and the general public to take proactive steps in promoting road safety”. She said.
She further highlighted that her Ministry recognizes that road safety is a shared responsibility.
“As we engage in this high-level conference, we reaffirm our commitment to implementing robust policies, enhancing infrastructure and fostering a culture of safety on our roads”, she said.
Ms Houma urged all road users—drivers, passengers, cyclists and pedestrians—to adopt safe practices, adhere to traffic regulations and contribute to a safer transport environment.
“Let us work together to make our roads safer and save lives”, she said.
