Kanifing Municipal Council Welcomes the AMALI Data Programme Team
The Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) proudly hosted the AMALI Data Programme (ADP) team for a two-day site visit and workshop held from July 2–3, 2025 at the Kanifing Municipal Library Conference Hall. The engagement kicked off with a courtesy meeting between the AMALI team and the Deputy Mayor, where the delegation briefed her on their mission and outlined their commitment to engaging in meaningful and collaborative discussions with the KMC team in support of the Mayor’s Legacy Goal.
Led by Mr. Mawande Ngidi (ADP Lead) and Mr. Chukwuma Okolie (City Data Advisor), the workshop provided a platform for the City of Kanifing to take bold steps toward building a structured, transparent, and efficient data management system. The team worked alongside key municipal stakeholders to:
– Refine and validate the Mayor’s Legacy Goal
– Develop a data inventory framework
– Explore performance management models
– Design a tailored data reporting tool
– Conduct a city-wide field visit and community engagement
The AMALI Data Programme is pivotal in empowering African cities to harness data as a strategic asset. By embedding a culture of evidence-based decision making and performance tracking, AMALI strengthens institutional capacity, improves urban governance, and helps cities like Kanifing deliver more inclusive, transparent, and impactful services to their residents.
Together, we are laying the groundwork for smarter, more responsive governance.
