At Masroor Senior Secondary School, the stage came alive this afternoon as young voices used the power of drama to champion disability inclusion in society.
Immaculate Heart of Mary Lower Basic School (LBS) emerged victorious and crowned champions of the Disability Inclusive Pathways Inter-school Drama Competition, a landmark event that celebrated creativity, advocacy, in promoting Disability Inclusion in society.
Organized by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in partnership with the Gambia Federation of the Disabled (GFD), the National Organization for Disables and Orphans (NODO), Special Olympics Gambia, and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE), the competition was staged under the recently launched Disability Pathways Project, proudly funded by the European Union (EU).
Bringing together 12 Lower Basic Schools from the North Bank Region (NBR), Kanifing Municipality (KMC), and the West Coast Region (WCR), the contest provided a very good platform for children to creatively explore themes of disability inclusion.
Through drama and media, these young talents became advocates for change, showing that inclusion is not just a policyโit is a lived experience.
The results for the 2025โ2026 Inter-school Drama Edition are:

– Killy LBS โ 1st Runner-Up
– Mbappu LBS โ 2nd Runner-Up
– Kassa Kunda LBS โ 3rd Runner-Up
The competition was stiff, with each school delivering powerful performances that highlighted resilience, empathy, and the importance of equal opportunities for all.
In the end, the Judges awarded Immaculate Heart of Mary LBS the Championship Crown, recognizing their outstanding storytelling and impactful message.
This victory is more than a trophyโit is a testament to the transformative power of education, creativity, and inclusion.
