The new headquarters complex to house jointly in Abuja, Nigeria, the Commission, Parliament and the Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will be operational by March 2026. This is what emerges from the visit made to the site of the building, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, by a strong delegation of the management of the Commission of the Cédeao led by its president, Dr. Omar Alieu TOURAY.
Built on a land of 7 hectares and located along Abuja Airport Road, the building is currently at 96% completion. The remaining 4% concerns general refurbishment work in buildings (already in progress), as well as correction of defects, testing and commissioning (pending).
Known as the “eye of West Africa”, the new Cedeao headquarters complex is fully funded and built by the People’s Republic of China through the China Agency for International Development Cooperation (China Aid).
