In a powerful public address on Saturday evening, Ms. Rohey Malick Lowe, the opposition Mayor of Banjul City Council, expressed her admiration and hinted at her aspirations for the positions of Vice President or Minister of Trade to President Adama Barrow. She pleaded with Barrow to make her dreams a reality.
Speaking directly to Barrow, Lowe stated, “Dear brother, my message to you is this: I aspire to be your Vice President or Minister of Trade in the future.” She acknowledged their long-standing relationship as “undercover liaisons” and urged Barrow to consider her for a prominent role in his government.
The tone of her message has sparked speculation among political circles regarding its true purpose. Some see it as a satirical jab, while others view it as a conciliatory gesture. There are also those who see it as a strategic move or a sign of shifting political alliances in preparation for upcoming elections.
This is not the first time that Lowe has been accused of privately supporting President Barrow and biding her time to make it public.
