Today at State House, His Excellency Mohammed B.S. Jallow, Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, received two dynamic student delegations on separate courtesy visitsโeach focused on advancing opportunities for Gambian youth through education, innovation, and leadership.
๐น Delegation One: College of Science, Engineering and Technology (GUSTAE)
Led by Yusupha Jadama, President of the Coยนllege of Science, Engineering and Technology at the Gambia University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology, the student executive held an in-depth discussion with His Excellency on issues directly affecting students.
Key areas raised included academic advancement, student development, research funding, internships, transportation challenges, accommodation, sports facilities, and international exchange programmes.
The Vice President responded positively, assuring the delegation of practical interventionsโamong them collaboration with GTSC to address transportation difficulties, plans for a second phase of student accommodation, and efforts to strengthen partnerships with government institutions to expand internship opportunities. Prospects for regional and international exchange programmes were also discussed.
๐น Delegation Two: Sup de Co Campus, Banjul
The second delegation was led by Mam Marie Darboe, President of the Studentsโ Union from Sup de Co Campus Banjul. Their engagement centered on internships, scholarships, and creating broader opportunities for young people.
His Excellency warmly welcomed their proposals and reaffirmed his commitment to working with partners, including the Ministry of Education and philanthropists, to support youth-focused initiatives. The delegation described the meeting as inspiring and a major step toward building opportunities for present and future generations.
