KMC passes D438 million 2023 Budget with the following items as the Major highlights

1) Road Construction (KMNRP : Kanifing Municipal Road Network Project), costed at D40million a year this includes the development of 38 kilometers of road encompassing every ward in km.
– D40million (D200million over 5 years)
2) KETP (Kanifing Environmental Transformation Program – KETP) , PSUP (Slum Development Project)
, costed at D98million for 2022 this includes the development of 10 community transfer stations, 7 community parks , skip truck and bins, waste collection tricycles and market infrastructure for Ebotown.
– D98million (involving D190million from 2022 to 2024)
3) Service Vehicles, involving the procurement of 16 service vehicles including Septic emptiers, waste compactor trucks, service pickups for D10 million a year for 5 years to an amount of D50million.
– D10million (involving D50million over 5 years)
4) D10million a year subvention for Kanifing Municipal Transport (KMT) worth over D50million for 5 years. KMT will provide a Municipal bus service Providing up to 50 buses in the 5 year period with 20 plus routes.
Total project investment is D250million.
– D10million (involving D50million subsidy support over 5 years)
5) D10million a year subvention for Kanifing Municipal Markets (KMM) worth over D50million for 5 years. KMM will provide 7 Municpal markets in Fajikunda, Abuko, Bundung JolaKunda, Serekunda Mbari Pa Dembo, Serekunda Tipper Garage, Fajara fruit Market, Bakau. Total project investment is D280million.
– D10million (involving D50million subsidy support over 5 years)
The budget which was passed is meant to ensure quality of life developments in all areas including security, waste management, social services but with major emphasis on infrastructure development.
