Police Begin Capacity Building  on Forensic Science in Criminal Investigation

A five-week training of trainers on Forensic Science In Criminal Investigation Commenced today, 5th June 2023 at Atlantic Hotel in Banjul.

With participants drawn from The Gambia Police Force, Gambia Immigration Department, Gambia Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and Gambia Prison Service, the training is expected to expose the officers to the forensic science investigation process that underpins forensic evidence and can help the courts to fairly utilize the evidence in strengthening the criminal justice system.

The opening ceremony was graced by The Assistant Inspector General of Police Crime Management, Alahji Demba Sowe, Commissioner of Forensic Unit, Amie Nyassi, and representatives of the European Union, WAPIS, and AFIS.

“It is hoped that the participants will utilize this training to learn new ways for collecting forensic evidence and also share their experiences with the facilitators”, remarked AIG Sowe
