National Assembly Member for Latri-Kunda Sabijie Constituency, Honourable Yahya Sanyang
The National Assembly Member for Latri-Kunda Sabijie Constituency, Honourable Yahya Sanyang, has expressed his opinion on the Judicial Officers’ Remuneration and Other Entitlement Bill 2023. According to him, he is not interested in the Bill and believes that the government should focus on bringing back the draft constitution that was previously thrown out of parliament, rather than presenting bills that were taken from it.
The NAM made the comments during Taranga FM’s popular program ‘‘Yewuleen’’.
“Once again the Attorney General wants to pull a fast one on us. Why extract the Judiciary bill from the draft constitution when you have the intention to reintroduce the draft constitution as a whole? He wanted to act smart by extracting all their interested areas in the draft and introducing them as bills…We should be vigilant. I don’t think the executive has any intention to reintroduce the draft.”
According to reports, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dawda Jallow, is expected to present the Judicial Officers’ Remuneration and Other Entitlement Bill 2023 in Parliament on Monday, September 11th, 2023.
