His Excellency Adama Barrow today presided over the inauguration of the QGroup House on Kairaba Avenue, a landmark occasion that signals The Gambia’s bold entry into the digital age.
The event unveiled the nation’s first Data Center, QFiber, along with the QCell Avenue street, designed to manage and secure national data, connect homes, businesses, and communities, and lay the foundation for a more inclusive and dynamic digital economy.
In his remarks, President Barrow hailed QGroup as a model of national ownership and innovation. Conceived, financed, and built by Gambians, the project is guided by a clear vision and strengthened by world-class technology, digital innovation, and artificial intelligence. It advances the nation’s future in close alignment with the “yiriwa” National Development Plan.
QGroup CEO, Mr. Muhammed Jah, described the launch as a bridge between industries, opportunities, and people. He expressed deep gratitude to the Barrow Government, particularly the Ministry of Digital Economy, for fostering strong partnerships with the private sector, emphasising this initiative as QGroup’s contribution to The Gambia’s digital future.
The President noted that QGroup has carried the Gambian flag beyond our borders, proving that Gambian enterprises can compete and succeed on the global stage. “This is not just commercial success; it is building in motion” he said.
As one of the largest private sector employers in the country, QGroup has consistently fulfilled its tax obligations with integrity, a fact publicly acknowledged by The Gambia Revenue Authority.
The inauguration marks a transformative milestone, positioning The Gambia firmly on the path toward a connected and empowered future.
