Today, at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center, the Security Subcommittee of The Gambia OIC Secretariat is unveiling the National Security Plan for The 15th Islamic Summit that is scheduled to take place in Banjul from the 4th – 5th May 2024 to the National Security Council of The Gambia.
The Chief Executive Officer of The Gambia OIC Secretariat Amb. Yankuba Dibba underscores the critical role of top-notch security, emphasizing the Gambia’s preparedness to host the Summit in May. He highlighted security as the most important aspect of the Summit. Reiterating that:
“The dedication of the Security SubCommittee over the years to maximise security efforts in preparation for the Summit has been commendable. Given the magnitude of this Summit, The Gambia has a tedious task ahead. Nonetheless, The country has hosted the African Union (AU) Summit in the past where inspiration is being drawn from. Our priority is ensuring the country’s safety, particularly during the summit.” He reassures the National security Council of OIC Gambia’s full support to the security Subcommittee
In attendance were The National Security Advisor Babucarr Jeng The Inspector General of The Police, Abdoulie Sanyang, the Chief Executive Officer of The Gambia OIC Secretariat Amb. Yankuba Dibba, Deputy Director General of The Gambia Immigration Department Ms. Hulay Jallow, Chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia Armed Forces General Momat O. Cham, Director of State Intelligent Services (SIS) Lamin jadama, Director of Drug Law Enforcement Agency Bakary Gassama, Chairperson of the OIC Security Subcommittee Tamsir Jasseh, OICGambia Management and Staff.
As preparations for the upcoming 15th Summit intensify, ensuring robust security measures before, during and after the Summit remains a top priority for the Secretariat.
