His Excellency President Adama Barrow received the Vice Presidents of the World Bank, Ousmane Diagana and International Finance Corporation (IFC) Mr Sergio Pimenta, during the first joint mission in The Gambia.
During the meeting, the President emphasised the urgent need for reliable and affordable energy for sustainable development, create job opportunities for young people to find employment opportunities and regenerate income.
He further highlighted the need to turn agriculture into a business venture to reduce poverty and significantly contribute to The Gambian economy.
President Barrow deeply appreciated the World Bank’s continued support in assisting The Gambia to achieve the National Development Plan. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the World Bank and IFC through the One World Bank structure in The Gambia.
The meeting served as an opportunity to solidify further the long-standing partnership between The Gambia and World Bank.
