Somalia’s Minister of Information, Daud Aweis, announced on Sunday that 17 al-Shabaab commanders have been neutralised over the past six months.
In a statement shared on X, Aweis reaffirmed the government’s ongoing commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring national security. He emphasised that while military operations continue against al-Shabaab, the government also offers a path to peace: members of the group who renounce violence and join rehabilitation programs will be granted amnesty.
