The Shields Gazette has reported that Newcastle United may be considering selling a winger who has scored 10 goals, in a sudden reversal of their earlier decision. Meanwhile, there are fresh claims that Yankuba Minteh, who is currently on loan at Feyenoord, faces an uncertain future as his loan deal is set to end at the conclusion of the season.

Newcastle United have a significant decision to make regarding the future of Yankuba Minteh.

The 19-year-old winger was signed by The Magpies from Odense for around £7 million last summer, but he was quickly loaned out to Dutch side Feyenoord for the 2023-24 campaign.

Minteh has scored 10 goals in 33 appearances for Feyenoord this season, including a goal in the Champions League. Feyenoord is interested in extending his stay beyond this season.

During pre-season, Newcastle will evaluate Minteh who has yet to play for the club. If he is not ready for Premier League football, he may be loaned out again.

However, a recent report in The Telegraph has suggested that the club may even look to sell the promising winger for a quick profit to boost their spending ability amid PSR constraints.

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has provided an honest assessment of Minteh’s performance at the club this season, acknowledging that the young player still has much to learn when it comes to decision-making. In an interview with Ziggo Sport/FR12, Slot explained that Minteh has mostly played in his native country, Gambia, where tactics aren’t emphasized as much. However, Slot did note that Minteh’s speed is a significant asset on the pitch. One swift move and he’s gone, leaving the defenders far behind.

“I think his choices are already getting better in the final stages. The only annoying thing for us is that if his choices get really good, he probably won’t play with us anymore.”
