
On Friday Beakanyang completed a 3-day training of 20 artisans on improved cooking stoves making at its Welding House in Nyakoi Taibatou.The activity attracted participants from across Wuli East and West Districts.
In his closing remarks, the Executive Director, Mr. Nfamara Jawneh praised the participants for successfully completing the training.
“We are happy that you all participated effectively and are now going back home with new skills,” he said.
He reiterated Beakanyang’s unrelenting commitment in empowering women to promote more climate actions at community level.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Dusu Jatta of Taibatou thanked Beakanyang for the life changing opportunity.
“We feel empowered and confident that we could henceforth help in reducing the dependency on firewood for women,” she said.
The Nyakoi Taibatou training which began on Wednesday is part of Beakanyang’s UNDP funded project.
The project seeks to promote energy efficient cooking stoves and renewable energy use in the region.
Addressing participants at the start of the training,the Executive Director Mr. Nfamara Jawno Jawneh thanked UNDP through its Climate Promise Project for its support.
Lead Trainer Mr Saikou Colley spoke at length about the environmental, economic and health benefits of the new cooking stoves.
Head of Programs at Beakanyang Mr Tumani Danjo urged participants to take the training seriously.
