PASTEF has broken its silence following President Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s decision to terminate Aïda Mbodj’s mandate as head of the President Diomaye Coalition.
In a statement, the party’s National Political Bureau said the process of restructuring the coalition was already underway, adding that PASTEF does not recognize any initiative led by Aminata Touré, with whom it “shares neither the same values nor principles.”
PASTEF further stressed that President Faye does not have the authority to dismiss Aïda Mbodj, who it said was appointed by the Conference of Leaders. The party also recalled that Faye was only the coalition’s presidential candidate, not its leader.
