At Teachers Without Borders, we take pride in celebrating individuals whose impact on education goes beyond the classroom, those who continue to lift teachers, students, and the education sector no matter where life takes them. Today, we shine the spotlight on a remarkable figure: Hon. Bakary K. Badjie.
Hon. Badjie began his journey as a teacher, and during his years in the classroom he earned the admiration and love of his students. Known for his humility, dedication, and passion, he stood out as one of the country’s true educationist, someone who not only taught lessons but touched lives.
Many civil servants start in the teaching field, but only a few carry the heart of a teacher with them when they step into new positions. Hon. Bakary Badjie is one of those rare few. After leaving the classroom and entering the National Assembly, he did not leave education behind. Instead, he became an even stronger voice for teachers.
From the parliamentary floor to public forums, from school events to national discussions, Hon. Bakary has consistently and fearlessly advocated for teachers’ welfare, quality education, and the dignity of the teaching profession. His commitment has earned him respect across the country and invitations to speak in schools and educational gatherings nationwide.
He is a teacher we will never forget, now a Member of Parliament, yet still a guardian of education and a true friend of the teaching fraternity.
Today, we celebrate you, Hon. Badjie, as a great teacher, an educationist, servant leader and a tireless advocate for teachers and for the future of education in The Gambia.
Thank you for keeping the spirit of teaching alive everywhere.
