His Excellency Mohammed BS Jallow the Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia on Monday, 17 November 2025, led The Gambia in celebrating a remarkable milestone โ 60 years of a transformative partnership with UNICEF that has shaped generations and strengthened the nationโs commitment to child welfare.
Speaking at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo, the Vice President hailed the collaboration as โa diamond partnership forged in shared vision and cemented by consistent action.โ He highlighted how UNICEFโs six decades of support have bolstered the countryโs progress in health, education, justice, and child protection.
From life-saving vaccines reaching children in the most remote communities, to improved classrooms, digital learning tools, stronger legal frameworks, and unwavering advocacy for childrenโs rights โ this partnership has been central to the nationโs development journey.
VP Jallow reaffirmed Governmentโs commitment to working closely with UNICEF to address emerging challenges, including climate change, nutrition, safe water access, social protection, and inclusive education.
โThe best is yet to come,โ he declared, emphasizing that investing in children is investing in the future of The Gambia.
As The Gambia and UNICEF celebrate six decades of shared achievements, the nation looks ahead with renewed hope, purpose, and determination to ensure every child survives, grows, and thrives.
