His Excellency President Adama Barrow has with profound sadness expressed his condolences to the families of victims of migrant boat disasters around Jinak Island.
Speaking during an audience with a high-powered delegation from Brufut on New Year’s day at the State House, President Barrow prayed for the departed souls and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The President further called for reflection and reorientation of young people towards nation development. Recounting his migration experience in Europe, President Barrow attributed his success to the faith he has in The Gambia and encouraged the youths to embrace opportunities at home.
To accelerate women and youth empowerment, President Barrow donated D200,000 to the women of Brufut fish landing sites and also approved the construction of a new market in the community.
These quick interventions will equally create new employment opportunities and counter push factors driving irregular migration.
