Speaking at the 9th Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) in Abuja, His Excellency President Adama Barrow empathized The Gambia’s openness to “genuine investors ready for win-win partnerships that benefit both the country and the investors.”
The President commended Nigeria’s leadership in convening the summit. He described energy as the foundation for peace, prosperity, stability and Africa’s industrial growth.
The Gambia’s Petroleum and Energy Minister Nani Juwara encouraged investment, while Foreign Minister Sering Modou Njie stressed the shift toward economic diplomacy and people-to-people engagement.
Significantly, The Gambia has been gathering data and promoting opportunities in its energy sector, leveraging its strategic position as a gateway for re-export trade, an independent judiciary, and a reputation of one of the safest countries in Africa, offering a stable environment for investment.
Participants at the audiences include representatives of Independent Petroleum Producers Group. Over thirty Nigerian companies and Exim Bank expressed optimism about potential partnerships in agriculture, tourism, and energy.
The forum unlocks new partnerships and opportunities for The Gambia, driving growth and prosperity in the region.
