The Traffic Unit of Gambia Police Force in Essau has intensified enforcement operations aimed at improving compliance with road traffic regulations and enhancing public safety.
The targeted exercise conducted within the jurisdiction of Essau Model Police Station, was led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Momodou Cham.
The operation focused on both motor vehicles and motorcycles operating in and around the town.
During the enforcement drive, officers identified multiple violations, including tinted vehicles operating without proper clearance, vehicles and motorcycles without number plates, riders failing to wear crash helmets, and private vehicles illegally functioning as commercial transport.
At the end of the operation, seven vehicles and sixteen motorcycles were intercepted and impounded for various traffic-related offences.
Police authorities say the move forms part of ongoing efforts to address traffic indiscipline and reduce the risk of road accidents.
The Regional Police Command has urged all motorists and riders to regularise their documentation and strictly adhere to traffic laws.
The Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to proactive enforcement measures designed to promote safer roads and strengthen security within communities.
