The Kotu Anti-Crime Unit swiftly responded to a report of an alleged assault at City Pub in Dippa Kunda, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the commencement of investigations.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers secured the area, recovered a broken bottle believed to have been used during the incident, and obtained other relevant exhibits. The victim, who sustained injuries, had already received medical treatment and was discharged, while another injured individual was also treated and discharged.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident arose from an altercation between the parties, during which a broken bottle was allegedly used. Statements were obtained from the victim, suspects, and a witness to assist the investigation.
Following investigations, the two suspects have been charged with Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm, while further investigations continue.
The Gambia Police Force urges members of the public to resolve disputes through lawful and peaceful means and warns that acts of violence, particularly those involving offensive objects, will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
