The Chairman of the Basse Area Council, Mahamadou Ceesay and the Chief Executive Officer, Bai Gibbi Sallah received the officials of the Gambia Immigration Department (GID) at the council yesterday.
The discussions were centred on meaningful measures to boost the security strategy in URR through close collaboration in the harmonisation of their relationship to ensure effective service delivery to the people of the region.
The new Commissioner of GID in URR, Ebrima Manneh stressed the need to embark on a critical review to ensure access to services is not affected by security issues in the region.
Chairman Mahamadou Ceesay congratulated and welcomed the new security boss to the region.
He maintained that security is the most crucial part of people’s lives and livelihoods, and reaffirmed his council’s commitment to supporting the security service in the fulfilment of their duties in URR.
‘’I am expecting to have a meeting with all the security heads in the region to discuss how to curb some of the security issues in URR. I am sure every regional authority would make a commitment to making sure there is safety in the region,’’ said Chairman Ceesay.
