In their routine crime updates, police said a man had been arrested who had an illegal pistol.
Tourism Security Unit of The Gambia Police Force arrested a 35-year-old man from Cape Point during a highway patrol search of vehicles around the tourism areas on Saturday, October 7, 2023.”
According to the despatched, the pistol, a “Ruger” type, was loaded with six 9mm live rounds when it was discovered in a vehicle.
“During the search, one of the two people in the vehicle managed to escape the scene, leaving the driver behind.
The driver, Muhammed Sosseh, who is currently in police custody, claimed that the pistol belonged to his colleague. He mentioned that the colleague had recently arrived from America.”
The police further stated that, while efforts to apprehend the second person in the vehicle named Ebrahim, are ongoing, Muhammed Sosseh is cooperating with the police in their investigation
