National Assembly member of Foni Bintang Karanai and 2026 presidential aspirant,Hon Bakary K. Badjie has voiced strong dissatisfaction with President Adama Barrowโs ๐๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ ๐จ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ, stating that it lacked concrete plans to address the countryโs pressing challenges.
Badjie disagreed with the presidentโs claim that inflation is declining. He argued that if this was true, Gambians would not be dealing with ๐๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ ๐ก๐ข๐ค๐๐ฌ and a ๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐๐๐ค๐๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ข.
โEveryone knows that the Dalasi is depreciating. One Euro is now 82 Dalasis. One Pound is 95 Dalasis. This is definitely alarming,โ he said. He urged the president to outline a clear strategy to ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ณ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ฒ.
Touching on education, Badjie acknowledged the governmentโs efforts to upgrade Gambia College but questioned the real impact, pointing to the ๐ก๐ข๐ ๐ก ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฒ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ among its graduates.
โStudents who studied education, public health, agriculture, and nursing are still without jobs,โ he noted. He added that ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐๐ฌ are also facing similar struggles.
On agriculture, Badjie criticized the ๐ฅ๐๐๐ค ๐จ๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ฌ. He said the focus should shift to mechanizing the sector, and promoting the use of organic fertilizers that can be produced locally.
He also expressed concern over the ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐ญโ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐จ๐ง ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฆ๐ in the country, calling it a missed opportunity to reassure the public and present solutions.
