As November casts its solemn shadow across our nation, we pause to honour the fallen those who gave their all in service to The Gambia. Among them stands the late Colonel Abdoulie Mboob, whose life and legacy continue to inspire generations of soldiers and citizens alike.
Colonel Mboob was more than a commanding officer; he was a mentor, a patriot, and a symbol of disciplined leadership. His life was defined by service, service to country, to comrades, and to the values that make our uniform sacred. He led with quiet strength and unwavering resolve, always placing duty above self.
I had the honour of witnessing his example firsthand. His presence commanded respect, not through fear, but through integrity. He taught us that leadership is not about rank it is about responsibility, humility, and the courage to stand firm when others falter.
Colonel Mboob’s legacy is etched into the soul of our institution. He championed professionalism, upheld standards, and nurtured the next generation of soldiers with wisdom and care. His impact was not confined to the barracks it reached families, communities, and the very fabric of our national identity.
This November, as we wear our poppies and bow our heads in remembrance, we carry Colonel Mboob’s spirit with us. His name joins the roll of honour etched not only in stone, but in the hearts of those who continue the mission he so faithfully upheld.
To his family, I extend my deepest condolences. To his comrades, I share your grief. And to the nation, I say: we have lost a hero, but gained a legacy.
Rest well, Colonel Abdoulie Mboob. Your watch is over, but your spirit marches on.
