Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow today received the UNICEF Country Representative to The Gambia, Nafisa Binte Shafigue, at the State House for discussions on the GIGA initiative aimed at digitally connecting all schools in The Gambia by 2030.
GIGA, a global initiative by UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union, seeks to ensure that every child has access to digital learning opportunities and other essential services through improved connectivity.
Ms. Shafigue revealed that The Gambia is now a fully GIGA-engaged country and commended the Vice President for his strong support towards the digitisation of the education sector.
Vice President Jallow reaffirmed governmentโs commitment to advancing digital transformation in education and ensuring that children across the country benefit from quality education and other social services enabled through technology.
