Earlier today, President Adama Barrow received greetings and messages of goodwill from the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, delivered by Special Envoy H.E. Madam Selma Bahte Mansouri.
The Special Envoy led a delegation that included the Algerian Ambassador to Addis Ababa, H.E. Mrs. Selma Malika Haddadi, along with a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, Special Envoy H.E. Mansouri conveyed the Algerian President’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in the areas of education, health, capacity building, and trade.
President Barrow welcomed the envoy, emphasising, “We cannot achieve African integration if Africa is not trading within.” He noted that the stability of a country contributes to its progress and acknowledged the opportunity to strengthen cooperation between The Gambia and Algeria, particularly through trade. The Gambian leader underscored the importance of fostering these trade relations.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, and his Permanent Secretary, Lang Yarboe, accompanied the Algerian Special Envoy to the State House.
