The Chairman of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, Rémy Ngoy Lumbu, has raised concerns on the abuse of Africans and people of African descent at the 83rd Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights in Banjul, The Gambia.
The session, which brought together the continent’s diplomats, human rights and non-governmental organisations, would discuss the human rights situation in Africa, activity reports and special mechanisms, etc.
“Africa has the highest number of people whose rights have been violated,” said Rémy Ngoy Lumbu.
Honourable Lumbu claimed the continent has suffered serious abuses that include slavery, colonialism and racism, amongst other human rights violations.
“Africa is sick and tired of stretching its hands to get the respect for human and people’s rights,” he added.
