
His Excellency President Adama Barrow received a delegation from Jambur village yesterday on a courtesy visit to the State House in Banjul.
The purpose of the visit was to solicit the Presidentβs support to expedite the ongoing mosque construction project, and expressed gratitude for his efforts in enhancing infrastructural development.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Omar Bojang, the Imam of Jambur, expressed gratitude to the President and his government for the numerous development projects their village has benefited from, including road construction, renovation of their health center, electricity supply, and access to clean drinking water. He further elaborated on the need for external support to complete their mosque project before the rainy season, as well as a community tractor to enhance their agricultural production.
President Barrow informed the delegation from Jambur that the Government does not budget for the construction of religious edifices, but pledged his personal contribution of one million Dalasis to the construction of the Jambur Central Mosque. He used the occasion to call for unity and dialogue, and expressed his desire to advance the country.
Responding to the need for a community tractor, President Barrow informed the delegation of the government’s payment plan for tractors, stating the government will pay 25%, the community pays 25% upfront, and the remaining 50% over four years.
The Alkalo of Jambur, Haruna Bojang, expressed high level of impression on President Barrowβs response and his willingness to contribute his quota to the cause. He further affirmed his communityβs unwavering support for the Barrow administration and its development projects.
